Chandigarh: Haryana has identified 1,170 accident prone points all over the state,out of which rectification has been done at 839 points,the state informed the Punjab and Haryana High Court Thursday. Earlier the court had taken suo motu cognisance of frequent fatal accidents in Punjab,Haryana and Chandigarh. Haryana submitted that 1,051 sites had been identified,of which speed breakers have been constructed at 842 sites.
Man gets 1-yr jail for power theft
Hisar: A local court convicted and sentenced a Bhiwani resident to one year simple imprisonment and slapped on him a fine of Rs 1,000 for power theft. Shashi Bala Chauhan,Additional Sessions Judge,Bhiwani,designated as special court under the Electricity Act. convicted Bhiwani resident Suresh Kumar after DHBVN alleged that he was caught stealing electricity from low tension power supply line with the help of 2.5 mm flexible wire from nearby pole through power plug of his house due to which the Nigam suffered a loss of Rs 1,14,188,including the compounding charges.
