Mansing-Ram-Patel-l BJP Lok Sabha MP Mansing Ram Patel.

BJP MP Mansing Ram Patel talks about TV shows and ads on ‘godmen’

Against what kind of TV programmes have you sought action?
I have raised the issue of ads and programmes of self-styled godmen and religious figures asking people to wear a certain type of clothes or eat a particular sweet for bringing good luck.

What specific programme has upset you?
These channels that show XYZ Baba… How can you say if you eat paani puri you will be cured, or keeping something in your wallet will bring you luck?

You belong to a party where faith and religion are important.
See, religion, faith and superstition are entirely different. I respect religion and science. But I am against mocking faith. I myself go to the temple every day, but that does not mean that I can be fooled in the name of religion.

Why do you say mocking faith?
One of my cousins was missing and my father went looking for him in Mount Abu after a local baba advised him that he would be there… They are playing with the sentiments of the people.

Will your party be behind you?
The BJP does not back wrong things or such drama.
