Two teachers booked for sexually harassing students

They were being sexually harassed by their teachers on the pretext of not granting them marks in Practical exams.

The Akola police have registered a complaint against two teachers of Navoday Vidyalay for alleged sexual harassment of two girl students.

“We registered the complaint against teachers Rajan Gajbhiye and Shailesh Ramteke under section 354A of the IPC (inappropriately touching) and section 10 read with 9 and 11 and 12 of protection of child from sexual offences act on the basis of complaint filed by principal Ramavatar Singh and the girls’ parents,” Superintendent of Police Chandrakishor Mina told the Indian Express.

Asked about reports of total 49 girls complaining similarly, Mina said, “we have complains only from two girls.”

The two teachers are absconding, according to Mina.

There were media reports about the two teachers harassing girls and also using explicit language during practical periods. They also reportedly threatened to deduct practical marks to suppress their voice.

“I cannot comment on the media reports,” said Mina.

The teachers have reportedly given statements to some mediapersons that they were being trapped in a false case because they had reportedly complained about some issues.
