Days after a Gurgaon man was arrested for sexually assaulting his minor daughter over a period of several years,a similar incident came to light in Karnal where the police arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting his two minor daughters,one of them only nine years old,for past several years.
The case came to light Monday when his 15-year-old elder daughter approached the police alleging that her father,Jaipal who works as a labourer,had been sexually assaulting her for the last three to four years. She alleged that the man had now started raping her her nine-year-old younger sister.
According to the police,both the girls were medically examined at Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College in Karnal where the doctors confirmed that duo had been sexually assaulted.
Based on the medical report and the girls allegations,the police registered a case against Jaipal and arrested him.
The police also got the the statements of the girls recorded before a Magistrate under Section 164 of Code of Criminal Procedure. Counselling of both the victims was also conducted in the presence of a woman advocate and a policewomen,police said,adding that the duo was later later sent to the Bal Bhawan,Karnal.
Both the girls are in safe custody and have also been provided counselling. The Child Protection Officers are also in touch with the Bal Bhawan authorities,where the girls have been kept, said Sub-Inspector Devi Singh,the investigating officer of the case.
The girls told the police that they did not attend any school,as they alleged that Jaipal didnt want them to study and always kept them confined to home.
The girls said that Jaipal had threatened them with dire consequences if they dared tell anybody about the sexual exploitation. However,after he started raping her younger sister,the elder girl approached one of the villagers and informed him about the gory act committed by her father. The villager then took her to a Child Protection Officer who brought the victims to the police station and got a formal complaint lodged.
Jaipal has been booked under various provisions of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012 at Gharaunda police station. As per the preliminary investigations,Jaipals wife had died a few years ago and he had married again. The victims were also allegedly not treated well by their stepmother. Jaipal was produced in the court Tuesday,from where he was sent to judicial custody.
This is the second such incident in Haryana in last few days,where a man has been arrested for raping his daughter. On April 5,a Gurgaon-based businessman,Anil Kumar,was also arrested on charges of allegedly raping his 16-year-old daughter for over a period of three years. A case was registered at Sushant Lok police station in Gurgaon on the basis of complaint lodged by the victim.
