40-year-old woman gangraped in Punjab
A 40-year-old woman was gangraped after being offered lift in a car in Jalandhar on Friday. The case was registered on October 14,against four persons. The woman had reportedly come to a village near Jalandhar to meet her relatives. In the evening when she was waiting for a bus near Nakodar Chowk,a white car stopped near her in which four persons were sitting,including Joginder and Shinda with whom the woman was familiar. They offered her a lift. The woman said that soon after she sat in the car,the accused started doing obscene acts with her and when she objected they tied her face with her dupatta and took the car to a lonely place on Gandhra Link Road near Nakodar. They then took her to nearby bushes and raped her by taking turns. The police have booked all the four and are searching for them.
Boy killed in group clashes
A teenager was reportedly murdered in full public view by a group of youths in Jhajjar district of Haryana late on Sunday. The deceased have been identified as Satish,a resident of Bhadani village. Satishs friend Rubal had had an altercation with the group from Dadanpur village about 10 days ago. On Sunday night,Satish,Rubal,Rajesh,Sumit and Praveen were spotted by the group led by Jogender. Both entered into a clash,in which Satish was stabbed. He was rushed to the hospital,but was declared dead on arrival. Following this,a case was registered against Jogender and his accomplices. The police have detained over 10 youths in the case.
Mitra gets additional charge as chief secy
Himachal Pradesh government gave P Mitra additional charge of the Chief Secretary. States personnel department issued the orders late on Tuesday evening. A 1978-batch IAS officer,Mitra is currently senior-most Additional Chief Secretary in the state. The decision was taken after Chief Secretary Sudripta Roy was admitted to the PGI Chandigarh following a brain hemorrhage on October 10. There has been no improvement in Roys condition.
Hooda takes stock of Cong rally preparations
Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda Tuesday took stock of the preparations for the upcoming Shakti rally,Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee,at Gohana on November 10. He addressed the Congress Legislature Party members and asked them to do their best for the rally.
