11-yr-old Gujarat rape victim gives birth to dead child

The girl was recovering at the hospital since last six days after she complained of complexities arising due to pregnancy,after being referred from a private hospital in tribal-dominated Chhota Udepur taluka.

Police at Chhota Udepur said they have taken DNA sample of the child and sent the body of the child for post-mortem. “We have sent the body for post-mortem and DNA sample,so as to establish that the child was conceived due to rape by the suspect,who happens to be girl’s uncle,” police said.

Doctors at the hospital said the girl had developed complexities after conceiving the child,because she was only 11-year-old. Her condition was stable and she may be discharged in a day or two,they said.

The victim was allegedly raped by her uncle thrice in a single day when her parents were away at Dholka where they worked as construction labourers,her father said in the FIR. Police said the girl’s uncle was arrested Friday last week after the FIR was lodged.

The victim’s father said he had left the village to work at a construction site at Dholka in Ahmedabad in August last year,leaving his daughter to stay with her grandmother.

The father said,the matter first came to light when she developed complications related to pregnancy.
