Three days after angioplasty,Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray was discharged from Lilavati Hospital on Monday afternoon. He walked out of the hospital around 1 pm and was driven to his residence in suburban Bandra.

Uddhav,51,underwent angioplasty to remove three coronary blockages at the hospital on Friday morning and was shifted out of the cardiac care unit on Saturday. Doctors said he had been advised about 10 days’ rest. Uddhav was rushed to the hospital last week following complaints of unease and chest pain. An angiography had revealed three blockages and the Thackeray family had opted to undergo angioplasty.

Estranged cousin and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena president Raj Thackeray, who had rushed to the hospital last week on hearing about Uddhav’s ailment and later drove him home after the medical procedure, did not visit the hospital on Monday as he was suffering a back pain.

The bonding between the cousins had led to speculations over them burying their differences and joining hands.

Raj had broken away from the Sena in 2006,complaining about a coterie around Sena chief Bal Thackeray, and formed his own party.
