The stalled trial in the drug abuse case involving Rahul Mahajan, son of slain BJP leader Pramod Mahajan,is all set to resume with a Delhi court fixing the matter for recording of testimonies of two forensic experts of the AIIMS.
Sanjeev Lalwani and T D Dogra, senior doctors of the department of forensic medicines and toxicology of AIIMS,would record their statements in the case on May 3.
Additional Sessions Judge S C Rajan “bound” Lalwani, who appeared for recording his statement today,to appear on the next date of hearing.
The trial in the case was stalled for over two years as the Delhi police and the accused, including Mahajan, had filed revision petitions in the Delhi High Court against the framing of charges. The judicial file was with the High Court.
While the accused alleged they were unduly charged under harsher provisions of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act,the police claimed that they were booked under milder sections of the Act.
