Huqumat yeh jaan le yeh trailer hai, asal film baaki hai (Let the administration know that this is only the trailer, the film is yet to come). These chilling words, intercepted by security agencies during the 26/11 attack, are set to be heard again spoken possibly by the same man who said them the first time in 2008.
The sentence, spoken from a Lashkar-e-Toiba control room in Pakistan to the 26/11 assault team in Mumbai, will be one of several that Mumbai Police interrogators will make Zabiuddin Ansari, the alleged handler of the attackers, speak as part of a voice identification test.
Ansari, who is currently being held in solitary confinement at a heavily-guarded lock-up at the police headquarters in south Mumbai, will be made to read from transcripts of intercepted conversations between terrorists at Chabad House in Colaba and their handlers in Karachi, sources said.
The voice spectrogram test will help investigators establish whether Ansaris voice was among those heard, the sources said. An audio-recording will be made of Ansari as he reads out from the Nariman House transcripts. He will be made to repeat,word-for-word,the instructions he allegedly gave over the phone to the terrorists during the 26/11 attack. We will also provide some other recordings for analysis, a top Mumbai Police officer who declined to be identified, said.
According to sources, forensic experts matching the 26/11 intercepts and the recording of Ansaris voice will look for at least 20 speech sounds with spectrographic similarities for a positive identification. The two recordings must have no unexplained differences, the sources said.
In the 26/11 Nariman House intercept,a handler who is believed to be Ansari or Abu Jundal is heard using Hindi words such as prashasan, and instructing the gunmen to identify themselves as the Deccan Mujahideen from Hyderabad. He also instructs them to put forward demands such as withdrawal of security forces from Kashmir,a mosque at the site of the Babri Masjid, and the handing over of Muslim states to Muslims.
