Seismograph installed at mystery sound-hit Jawhar

A seismograph has been installed in Jawhar taluka of the district where mysterious underground sounds over the past two weeks have rattled locals.

A seismograph has been installed in Jawhar taluka of the district where mysterious underground sounds over the past two weeks have rattled locals.

A seismograph measures and records elastic ground vibrations called seismic waves generated by earthquakes and man-made explosions.

Additional Collector Ashok Shingare said on Friday the administration had taken every step to instill confidence among the people of Jawhar,who have been living in fear.

Geology experts from Pune,Mumbai and IIT-Bombay were camping in the taluka for the past two days to find out the cause of the mysterious sounds,he said. Shingare said the administration had also sought help from National Geo Physical Laboratory to unravel the mystery.
