After the exploitation and maltreatment alleged by inmates of Apna Ghar shelter home in Rohtak, the inmates of a Karnal-based shelter home, also called Apna Ghar, have levelled similar allegations against the operator of the shelter home.
Three inmates of Apna Ghar in Karnal have alleged that they were sexually abused and physically tortured about a year ago by the shelter homes operator-cum-incharge Manav Das. Based on the complaint, the Karnal police has registered a case on charges of assault and wrongful confinement against Manav Das. As far as charges of sexual abuse are concerned, the investigating police officials told The Indian Express that if the police find any corroborative evidence substantiating any kind of sexual abuse, the charges shall be added against the accused.
The medical examination of the inmates indicated that they were assaulted. Thus we slapped charges of assault against the operator of the shelter home, said Sub Inspector Gurjinder Singh,SHO,Police Station Civil Lines,Karnal.
