Before he flew to South Africa on Saturday to study wildlife preservation,tongues were waggling in the Punjab Congress and the ruling alliance on state party chief Captain Amarinder Singh’s South African ‘date’. The grapevine was abuzz with rumours of his Pakistani friend,Aroosa Alam,accompanying him — thereby making it a joint India-Pakistan delegation. What has surprised many in Congress is not just the ‘friend’ but the timing of the visit — when change of guard was looking imminent in the state unit. But being the true maharaja that he is,Amarinder does not believe in putting up pretensions when it comes to his affections. So,off he flew,leaving others to figure out the whos and whys.
