Lounge raid: Anticipatory bail for co-owner

A sessions court on Friday granted anticipatory bail to Anjali Nirmal,wife of ATS officer Rajnish,who was booked after the September 1 raid on Maya Restaurant-cum-Lounge at Wagholi,owned by her in partnership.

A sessions court on Friday granted anticipatory bail to Anjali Nirmal (45),wife of ATS officer Rajnish,who was booked after the September 1 raid on Maya Restaurant-cum-Lounge at Wagholi,owned by her in partnership. The Pune rural police had busted the party for allegedly flouting rules.

In her bail application,Anjali stated that the police were trying to frame her due to media pressure. She also stated that she did not know about the activities that went on at the restaurant-cum-lounge.

The court of additional sessions judge S M Shinde directed the police to release her on furnishing a personal bond of Rs 15,000 with a solvent surety.

The court has also put a condition that Anjali would not tamper with evidence or influence witnesses and will be present for interrogation if directed by the police.

She has also been directed not to leave the country without the court’s permission.
