A demand was made on Thursday by a local Trust to set up a board for temples and shrines in Jammu and Kashmir.
“We urge the State government to constitute a board to maintain age-old shrines and temples in Jammu and Kashmir and fulfill the long aspirations of the Hindu community of the state,” said Karnail Singh,General Secretary of Dharmarth Trust Sudhar Sangarsh Samiti.
The constitution of the board will pave way for safeguarding the property and income of the temples,which will be used for the welfare of the pilgrims and other public welfare related works,he said.
There are over 500 temples and shrines in Jammu and Kashmir.
