The surrender of former minister Gopal Kanda in Delhi notwithstanding, the Opposition in Haryana is sharpening their knives to corner the Bhupinder Singh Hooda government in the Assembly in the monsoon session beginning August 24.
And with Hoodas own cabinet colleague Power Minister Capt Ajay Singh Yadav claiming a regional bias on the part of Hooda for not according university status to the Indira Gandhi Post Graduate Regional Centre in Rewari,it is likely to embarrass the state government in the House.
Incidentally, even the Opposition has been levelling allegations of regionalism against Hooda and it will raise the issue in the House.
How will he hold the House in order when his own house is collapsing, state BJP president Krishan Pal Gurjar said on Tuesday.
The Opposition bench is not short on fodder. Right from allegations of state government providing protection to Kanda and the sexual abuse of inmates of Apna Ghar shelter to the labour unrest and violence at Marutis Manesar plant and allegations of atrocities on dalits, the Opposition has lined up the issues to grill Hooda in the House.
The prevailing power crisis especially in the rural areas of the state and no aid as yet to farmers staring at major loss of crop due to the deficient monsoon, are two other issues on which the state government will have to give an answer.
There are plenty of issues which warrant urgent attention of the House. We will seek the governments response to the vital issues of power, water, law and order crisis prevailing in the state. The issue of absconding former minister Kanda will be raised on priority, said Ajay Chautala, the INLD secretary general.
On Geetika Sharma suicide case,in which Kanda has been made an accused by the Delhi Police,he said: A girl sacrificed her life to expose the wrongdoings of a minister in Hooda cabinet. This is only the tip of the iceberg,as this government is full of such ministers and it is only a matter of time before they are exposed.
After the case came to light, the INLD had demanded that the Congress government be dismissed and Presidents Rule imposed in the state paving way for fresh elections.
Meanwhile,BJP is ready to take on both the INLD and the Congress. The INLD gave birth to Kanda and the Congress nurtured him. We will expose them on this issue, Gurjar said.
He added that Hooda will also have to answer on the Apna Ghar scandal. If an NGO operating from the chief ministers town can script such of tale of torture, exploitation and crime, then what would be the state of affairs in the other parts of the state? The state government has to come clear on the issue, he added.
