A major fire broke out on Monday at the Yara market in south Mumbai,fire brigade officials said. Around 12 fire engines were rushed to the spot near the crowded Manish market,officials said,adding that more fire tenders and water tankers were pressed into service to douse the flames,which erupted around 4.30 pm. However,no casualties have been reported yet. Also,the cause of the fire is not yet known.
Three killed in Sangli road mishap
Sangli: Three people,two of them senior citizens,were killed and two injured here on Monday after they were knocked down by a tempo,police said. The victims were on a morning walk along Mahisal-Miraj Road when the accident happened. The deceased have been identified as Dhudappa Bapu Walagade (65),Tataso Ganpati Gaikwad (60) and Popat Ganpati Nikam (50).
Family robbed of jewellery at gunpoint
Nashik: A family,hailing from Soudatti in Karnataka,were robbed of their gold ornaments,cash and other valuable things worth Rs 6.5 lakh at gupoint on the Sinnar-Shirdi Road,about 35 km from here on Sunday night,police said. Dattatreya Jaywant Pawar,a goldsmith,and his family were returning to Shirdi when robbers stopped their car and took away valuables worth Rs 6.5 lakh,police said.
