Revenue and Information and Public Relations Minister Bikram Singh Majithia on Sunday slammed state Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh for the power shortage being faced by Punjab. Majithia said the state was now paying dearly for “zero performance of the incompetent Congress chief minister”.

While addressing mediapersons,Majithia said: “The incompetence of Captain Amarinder Singh could be gauged from the fact that Punjab is the only state that has not sent any proposal to the Union Power Ministry for power plants. The Captain believed in purchasing power from private sellers at exorbitant rates instead of generating it. The focus on buying power raises doubt about cut being received by the Congress from the purchases.”

“It was unfortunate that instead of making Punjab self-sufficient on the power generation front and attracting investment in industry sector,Captain spent his energy in scuttling projects that were approved by the previous SAD-BJP government,” he added.
