BMC to discuss water connections in slums

Mumbai:A proposal to increase water connections in slum areas will be discussed in the Brihamumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) Standing Committee meeting on Tuesday. The notice of motion,put forward by former Congress corporator of A Ward,Vinod Shekhar,sought to implement one pipeline supplying water to each family as against the current norm of one pipeline per three families.

Building portion collapses in Malad

Mumbai: A portion of a four-storeyed building in Malad (West) collapsed on Monday. No injuries were reported. The first floor of Rashmikunj Building on Dafatari Road gave way. The Fire Brigade evacuated all occupants of the building. BMC officials said the building wasdeclared dangerous previously and residents were warned of the weakened construction

Woman’s body found in drain

Mumbai:The body of an unidentified woman was found in a drain in Ghatkopar on Monday. The identity of the woman,believed to be in her early 30s,is yet to be ascertained. The Ghatkopar police said the post-mortem report is awaited. .
