The first batch of newly trained women commandos have been posted at the Punjab chief minister’s office and residence and will slowly be deployed with the Close Protection Team, which is Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s inner security ring.

Sources said twenty women commandos were given their postings last week. Of these,10 have been deployed at the CMO,while the rest have been posted at the CM’s residence. This, being their first duty after training, the women have been deployed at all the entrances and for now are only allowed to frisk women visitors. Efforts are on to get them familiar with the working of the chief minister’s security.

The women personnel,on the other hand, are all excited for their new roles. One of the commandos said: “ We are learning all the systems here and are excited,as we have got a excellent opportunity to show our calibre.”

Apart from regular training, the commandos have also been taught Krav Maga,a highly effective Israeli martial art.

While the first batch of 20 commandos have been deployed, another batch of 20 commandos are being trained at Bahadurgarh.

Around 180 women constables were recently recruited in the state police force. Of these, senior police officers shortlisted around 100,which were cut down to 60,for Badal’s protection ring. These women are now part of the SSG and will be deployed in the CPT.
