The physically-challenged employees of the state government will be given a three per cent quota in promotion with effect from March 6,2011.
An official spokesperson of the social security and women and child welfare department said that written instructions in this regard have been issued to all concerned officials .
He added that with these instructions,the orders of Punjab and Haryana High Court — dated March 23 — have also been attached.
As per the orders of the high court,the department will identify concerned posts on which physically challenged employees were to be promoted.
All departments have been asked to furnish details of the action taken in this regard within one month of the receipt of the letter,the spokesperson said. Physically challenged employees were entitled to submit their special claim,if any,before the competent authority.
The Punjab government also issued instructions that conveyance allowance should be provided to all physically challenged employees of the state as per the recommendations of the 5th Pay Commission.
All improvement trusts dissolved
CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government on Wednesday dissolved all improvement trusts in the state. Deputy commissioners have been deputed as administrators at districts headquarters while SDMs have been given the charge of dissolving improvement trusts at the sub-divisional level.
Posting orders for three IPS officers
CHANDIGARH: The state government has issued new posting orders for three IPS officers. Amardeep Singh Rai,who completed his central deputation,has been posted as IGP (Headquarters) till Kuldeep Singh rejoins. Vibhu Raj,after completion of her central deputation,has been posted as DIG (Police Crime Wing). Khubi Ram (DIG Security) has been posted as DIG (Police Control Room),Chandigarh.
Helpline for victims of ragging
Chandigarh: The UGC has launched a helpline for ragging victims. A spokesman of the education department on Wednesday said victims of ragging can now dial toll-free number 1800-180-5522 to register their complaint. “The guidelines framed to stop ragging are available on the UGC website http://www.ugc.ac.in,” he said,adding that institutes will now have to constitute a committee to check incidents of ragging.
