In a major blow to the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), senior leader M V Mysura Reddy resigned from the party after shooting off an angry letter to party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, lamenting his “autocratic attitude’’. Mysura Reddy was a key political strategist for the YSRCP.

Later, he told reporters that Jagan neither seeks nor considers the opinion of other leaders even on important party matters.

“Jagan does not believe in democracy… Except money, nothing else matters in the party and Jagan craves for power constantly,” said Mysura Reddy. The former Rajya Sabha MP, who was earlier with the Congress and then the Telugu Desam Party, had joined the YSRCP in May 2012.

In the last four months, at least 12 YSRCP MLAs have quit the party and joined the ruling TDP. The party had won 67 seats in the 2014 Assembly election.
