Woman held in Mathura violence gives birth in police custody

Over a week after her arrest following a clash between encroachers and the police at Jawahar Bagh in Mathura, 34-year-old Dharamvati has given birth to a baby boy in judicial custody in Etah district.

The woman had moved to the land, occupied by the Swadheen Bharat Subhash Sena, with her husband and three children a year-and-half ago. Her husband is also in jail. “Both the mother and the newborn are healthy,” said SP Anoop Singh at Etah district jail.
