On the day Supreme Court dismissed AAP national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s plea seeking stay on trial court proceedings in a criminal defamation case filed by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Akali minister in the Punjab government Bikram Singh Majithia said he would not let Kejriwal run away in the criminal defamation case filed by him (Majithia) in an Amritsar court.

“I will take him to the cleaners,” Majithia said in Chandigarh on Monday evening, reiterating his challenge to Kejriwal to offer himself for day-to-day hearings in the defamation case filed by him.

Majithia had filed the defamation case against Kejriwal and AAP leaders Sanjay Singh and Ashish Khetan in May this year, accusing them of “tarnishing” his image by levelling false, baseless and malicious charges” on the issue of drugs.

“For the sake of justice, Kejriwal should not have any problem since he accuses me of all these things, he should agree to day-to-day hearings which to date he has not agreed to. I say whatever he says outside the court, under oath he should say [same] inside the court. But inside the court, he asks for exemptions. Every case has three stages, summoning, made accused, chargesheeted and last stage is conviction. Kejriwal has been summoned, made an accused, chargesheeted and now the case is in last stage and for which I tell you today he will apply delayed tactics. If a man is serious about what he says, let him agree to day-to-day hearing,” Majithia said.

Earlier, during a press conference, Majithia hit out at Kejriwal alleging the party whose constitution said they would not go for alliance with any other party went on to forge an alliance with the party led by Bains brothers, Balwinder Singh Bains and Simarjit Singh Bains. He also referred to a September video of AAP MP Bhagwant Mann where the latter says there was no provision of alliance in AAP’s constitution.

He also distributed a list of AAP MLAs, leaders and their allies named in “corruption and fraud cases” and said the names were categorised in alphabets and only “X,Y,Z alphabets” remained against to take the tally of such leaders equivalent to total alphabets of English language.

Majithia distributed the copies of FIR registered against Simarjit Singh Bains for various alleged offences including attempt to murder in June 2009 and alleged that Bains’ was latest entry of leaders in AAP who faced criminal cases.

Responding to a query, Majithia said he had learnt that the chargesheet in the said case would be filed shortly. Referring to the case, he said it was ironical that AAP aligned with someone who was accused of “murderous attack” on an ex-Army jawan who was on his duty as tehsildar.

Alleging that AAP government in Delhi took anti-Punjab on the SYL issue in Supreme Court, Majithia said it was on the directions of Kejriwal that the morcha at Kapoori by AAP Punjab leaders was lifted.

Majithia accused Kejriwal of “taking U-turns” on number of issues, including availing government
bungalows, security and using government cars, despite initially “announcing not to avail those”.
