West Bengal Assembly polls: Congress releases second list, pitches Deepa Dasmunsi against Mamata

Earlier on March 8, Adhir Rajan Chowdhury had announced that party state general secretary Om Prakash Mishra would be contesting from Bhawanipore against Mamata Banerjee.

The Congress on  Friday released the second list of candidates for the upcoming 2016 West Bengal elections. The list of 42 candidates was released by AICC General Secretary, Madhusudan Mistry.

The list is important as the Congress has changed their candidate in the Bhawanipore constituency, where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had won last time.

Earlier on March 8, Adhir Rajan Chowdhury had announced that party state general secretary Om Prakash Mishra would be contesting from Bhawanipore and Mishra had even started campaigning from Tuesday.

Nearly a week after projecting Mishra as the party’s candidate for Bhawanipore, the West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee on Wednesday said that it now wants Deepa Dasmunsi, wife of senior Congress leader Priya Rajan Dasmunsi to contest from there instead.
