Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah Monday expressed hope that Karnataka will receive some relief in the Cauvery water sharing issue in the light of a report submitted by a high-level technical team mandated by the Supreme Court.

“A report based on the committee’s assessment of ground realities has been given to Supreme Court. We are hoping for some relief in the light of the report,’’ he said.

The technical committee has said in its report: “The plights of farmers in both the states have been witnessed. In the absence of required water, the labour employment for farming and fishing is also limited, creating a scenario of unemployment and financial hardship to them.”
