Supreme Court suspended six DMDK MLAs.

The Supreme Court Friday set aside the March 31, 2015 resolution of the Tamil Nadu Assembly suspending six DMDK legislators for allegedly creating ruckus and attempting to assault the Speaker.

A bench of Justices J Chelameswar and Abhay M Sapre held that the principle of natural justice was violated since the MLAs were not provided with the video recording of their conduct to enable them to defend themselves. The bench quashed the resolution recommending action against them and said that salary and other benefits incidental to the membership of the assembly shall stand restored to the six MLAs. Following a ruckus on February 19, 2015, 19 MLAs, including the six petitioners, were suspended from the House for the remaining period of session.
