VHP brings out banners to bar Muslims from entering garba venues

“Navratri is Hindus’ religious festival. Why give entry to those who don’t believe in idolatry and call Hindus ‘kafir’,” the banners put up on the boundary wall of the club said.

The VHP members told mediapersons that they will be put up similar posters and banners at all the venues hosting garba dance events.

“This is a Hindu festival and not a picnic spot. Since we don’t go to mosques, the Muslims should also refrain from entering the graba venues. We have observed in the past that Hindu girls are lured by the Muslims youths during the festival,” said Bachchubhai Ladwa, VHP’s Ahmedabad president.

Ladwa added that if Muslim youths were found sneaking into the venues, the VHP members will be “tested with gaumutra and red tilak”.

When asked how he would identify Muslims in the crowd, Ladwa said, “The way police find out terrorists, our volunteers will identify non-Hindus.”

Rajubhai Patel, VHP’s Ahmedabad general secretary, said that volunteers will be deployed at all the garba venues and they will keep an eye on each individual entering the venues.
