As part of the Jan Abhiman Abhiyan initiated by the party to “instill national pride” among people, the Vadodara unit of the BJP held a demonstration in the Sayajigunj area of the city on Thursday evening, with leaders including Mayor and city unit President Bharat Dangar, holding placards of “nationalistic” messages.

In its statement regarding the event, BJP Vadodara unit blamed the “traitors” of JNU for “soiling the image of the nation” with their anti-national sloganeering. The statement said, “It is hurtful and despicable that despite living in the country, there are attempts to fulfil the wishes of the enemies. And to support these traitors, when Congress Vice- President Rahul Gandhi arrived in JNU, it appeared that the party which was reduced to 40 seats in the Lok Sabha, is backing seditious elements in thirst of power. The Congress can shake hands with anti-nationals…” The party leaders held the demonstration near the symbolic Sardar Patel statue in Vadodara.
