A 35-year-old man was allegedly attacked with acid by his female friend near his house at Barra police station area in Kanpur on Saturday evening.
Pushpendra Singh Yadav, who works as a sales executive at a private firm, sustained 20 percent burn injuries on his face, said Circle Officer, Kanpur, Gajendra Singh. He is currently undergoing treatment at Hallet hospital in Kanpur and doctors stated his condition to be stable.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim, police have registered an FIR against Dolly Tekchandani under IPC Section 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means). Police are conducting raids to trace Dolly.
A resident of Lucknow, Pushpendra had been living in Kanpur at a rented accommodation along with his wife Simran Singh for the past one year. He had developed a friendship with Dolly during his stay at Lucknow, Station House Officer of Barra police station, Tulsiram Pandey said.
On Saturday evening, Dolly allegedly called him over phone and asked him to meet her near Sabzi Mandi, Pandey said. When he went there, there was a heated argument between them, following which Dolly took out a bottle containing acid from her bag and poured it on him. As Pushpendra called for help, Dolly escaped from the spot, said the SHO.
Locals rushed Pushpendra to a nearby hospital from where doctors referred him to Hallet hospital. As part of the investigation, police are collecting call detail records of Pushpendra’s mobile phone.
