The BJP Sunday suspended its Gorakhpur (Rural) MLA Vijay Bahadur Yadav for voting for SP candidate in the Rajya Sabha polls.
“Yadav has been suspended for not following the directions of the chief whip,” Leader of BJP in Assembly Suresh Khanna said.
After the voting ended Saturday, Yadav had said that he had voted for a party, “which can bring development to this state and my region”. “I voted for SP after witnessing the development works undertaken by CM Akhilesh Yadav,” he said.
Meanwhile, the BSP expelled its MLA from Najibabad, Taslim Ahmed, for “indulging in anti-party activities” and “indiscipline”.
The party, however, claimed that the action was not linked to the MLA’s voting in the just-concluded MLC or RS polls. The party said that there had been several complaints of “indiscipline and anti-party activities” against the MLA.
