Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik has written to Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani seeking details of guidelines issued by her ministry to bring “uniformity” in hoisting the Tricolour in central universities.
“While there is absolute freedom to hoist the national flag and any citizen of this country can do so, it has to be done in a proper way with respect and dignity,” Naik told The Indian Express on Monday.
Once he gets a reply from the HRD ministry, Naik said he would discuss the guidelines with vice-chancellors of all state universities. “Probably, we could come out with a better method to bring uniformity,” he said.
Navodayas to hoist Tricolour
New Delhi: After central universities and Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, too, have been asked to hoist the national flag in all school campuses every morning and lower it at sunset “irrespective of weather conditions”. Students must salute it and then sing the national anthem.
