The Telangana government is set to carve out 14 new districts by redrawing the boundaries of the existing 10 districts. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said Monday that the process of creating the new districts would be completed by Dussehra. A formal announcement in this regard would also be made then, he added. Rao said the carving out of smaller districts would improve management and administration.
According to sources, the new districts could be carved out of Mahbubnagar, Ranga Reddy, Warangal, Nalgonda, Karimnagar, Medak and Khammam. The township mushrooming along the IT corridor on the outskirts of Hyderabad may also be declared a separate district. — Sreenivas Janyala
