External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Monday hit out at Pakistan at the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly. Saying that those who speak the language of terrorism are alleging human rights violation in Kashmir, Swaraj said that they must first introspect over what is happening in their own country. Without naming Pakistan, Swaraj said the world must hold those to account who fail to join the global strategy against terrorism. We must isolate them, she said. She raised the human rights violations in Balochistan and asked Paksitan what pre-conditions it had set for initiating talks with India.

Excerpts of the speech:

This month, we marked the 15th anniversary of 9/11 attack. We who have suffered in Uri recently can understand the pain. These malevolent forces are yet to be confronted. Terrorism is the biggest violation of human rights. It targets the innocent and kills everyone indiscriminately. It is important to ask who is behind this as terrorists don’t own banks. Who provides the financial backing to them, who funds them…history proves that those who promote extremist ideologies reap no benefits. It threatens the peace and harmony of the world. It is impossible to make distinctions between your problem and mine. We need to join forces and script an effective strategy against terror. It is not impossible, provided we have the will.

Our future generations will forever hold us to account. If any nation refuse to join this global strategy then we must isolate. There are still nations who speak the language off terrorism, who pedal it. We must hold them to account. Where UN recognised terrorists roam freely. They alleged human rights violations against my country. Those accusing us of it must introspect what they are committing in their own country. Look what is happening in Balochistan. The Pak PM also said India placed pre-condition on talks. Did we impose any condition on him attending the swearing in of our govt. Did I impose any condition when I visited Islamabad. Did PM Modi impose conditions during his fly-by visit. We conveyed Eid greeting. Wished their cricket team good luck. What did we get in return. Pathankot, Uri. I want to ask: are we putting conditions or are you going in opposite direction..

Bahadur Ali is proof of cross-border terrorism. When confronted with evidence they live in denial. I want to tell Pak that Kashmir is an integral part of India and there pakistan must abandon this dream. we will be judged by action and also inaction.
