BJP Rajya Sabha member Subramanian Swamy has turned his guns on Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi. In a set of tweets on Monday, Swamy claimed the AG had to revoke his demand to prosecute him in a hate speech case after the government allegedly passed an order against it.

“My Petition on hate speech laws came in SC today. Slimy AG on Govt order had to delete his demand for my prosecution for an anti terror book,” Swamy said in his tweet.

Swamy petitioned the Supreme Court last year seeking a stay on all criminal proceedings against him on the ground that they violate his freedom of expression. He challenged the validity of the provisions that punish people who are guilty of hate speech.

In an affidavit submitted before the Supreme Court last year, the Ministry of Home Affairs supported prosecution of Swamy saying he violated provisions of the Indian Penal code with his writing, which allegedly tends to promote hatred between Hindus and Muslims.
