‘Spurt in attacks from across the border’: Government

Minister of State for Home, Hansraj Ahir, said there had been a spurt in infiltration attempts from Pakistan.

Pakistan-based terror groups are stepping up attacks on security forces in Jammu and Kashmir and forcing them to retaliate in an effort to “give it a shape of civil resistance”, the government said in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. Replying to a question from Samajwadi Party MP Neeraj Shekhar, Minister of State for Home, Hansraj Ahir, said there had been a spurt in infiltration attempts from Pakistan (see box).

Replying to a question from Samajwadi Party MP Neeraj Shekhar, Minister of State for Home, Hansraj Ahir, said there had been a spurt in infiltration attempts from Pakistan. “Since a large number of them have been neutralised, terror organisations based in Pakistan are now increasing their efforts to promote radicalisation through vested interest groups and social media… (they are) increasing the attack on security forces in J&K,” Ahir said.
