SP scripts history in Gujarat, wins 23 out of 24 seats in Kathlal municipality

State SP president Surendra Yadav said that the party had taken into account all the local and caste factors while fielding candidates. He said that the party had fielded 24 candidates from six wards but the candidature of one of them was rejected on technical grounds and hence, one seat went to BJP.

Among the 23 SP winners are six from Patidar community, five Muslims, four Bhavsars, two Brahmins, two scheduled caste and one each from Christian, Sodha, Thori and Bharvad communities.

Giving reasons for SP’s triumph against BJP and Congress, Yadav said, “While Congress is totally finished owing to lack of proper leadership, BJP lost its credibility in rural and semi-urban areas for not keeping its electoral promises and checking rising inflation that affects ruralites the most.”
