Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav Friday termed UP Transport Minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, an “influential leader” who is devoted to the party. Mulayam also announced that SP will celebrate the silver jubilee of its inception on November 5 and Prajapati, who was last month dismissed from Akhilesh Yadav Cabinet on graft charges before being reinducted, will be its convenor.
“SP has ensured honour to poor, women and backward after struggle. It is the miracle of SP policies that people from common families such as Prajapati became a Cabinet minster. He (Prajapati) is now an influential minister and an influential leader who travels all over the state,” he said, pointing at Prajapati who was sitting beside him during a press meet here.
Announcing that Prajapati will be the convenor of the programme to celebrate silver jubilee of the party at Janeshwar Mishra Park in Lucknow, Mulayam directed all the party MP, MLAs, ministers and workers to participate in it.
Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had sacked Prajapati, who was the mining minister, following charges of illegal mining against him.
The Allahabad High Court had also ordered a CBI probe into the matter.
Prajapati was later reinstated, following the intervention of the Samajwadi Party chief, and given the transport ministry.
