National Women Commission (NCW) Rekha Sharma on Monday called for the arrest of BSP leader Naseemuddin Siddiqui over his derogatory comments against expelled BJP leader Dayashankar Singh’s family members.
Sharma said NCW has issued notices to both Dayashankar and Siddiqui over the derogatory comments made by them. Dayashankar had compared BSP chief Mayawati with a prostitute following which he was expelled from BJP.
Demanding Siddiqui’s arrest, she said: “BSP should check its leaders who are abusing a 12-year-old (Dayashankar’s daughter). The Pocso Act should be imposed on Naseemuddin Siddiqui for using such words for a minor.”
Meanwhile, the NCW team also met a woman who was allegedly raped by two persons on the pretext of getting her a job in a factory in Mathura. Sharma, who was leading the team, said crime against women is on rise in Uttar Pradesh, which needs to be checked immediately.
On Saturday night, the woman was allegedly raped by Shyam Sundar Kardam and Gopichand — whom she claimed were BSP leaders — in a hotel in Dhauli Piau. On her complaint, a case was registered under Section 376 (rape) of IPC at Kotwali police station. The accused were arrested on Sunday.
Kardam, a former BSP leader, had contested 2014 Lok Sabha election as an Independent candidate. However, BSP district president Satya Prakash Kardam denied Kardam’s association with the party. “I have been working for the BSP in Mathura for decades and have never heard the names of any Shyam Sundar Kardam or Gopichand,” he claimed.
