Sahitya Akademi announces Yuva Puraskar winners

Twenty-four writers of all the 24 languages recognised by the Akademi were selected for Yuva Puraskar and 21 for Bal Sahitya Puraskar.

The Sahitya Akademi announced its yearly Yuva and Bal Sahitya Puraskar in Imphal Thursday. Twenty-four writers of all the 24 languages recognised by the Akademi were selected for Yuva Puraskar and 21 for Bal Sahitya Puraskar. While there was no award for Bal Sahitya Puraskar in Bodo and Manipuri this year, for Rajasthani the award will be declared later.

The Yuva Puraskar winners include Prarthana Saikia (Assamese), Raka Dasgupta (Bengali), Vikrama Hatwara (Kannada), Raghu Karnad (English), Nilotpal Mrinal (Hindi), Aadil Mohi-ud-din (Kashmiri), Bijit Gayari (Bodo), Parimal Hansada (Santali) and Surya Gopi in Malayalam. The winners will receive a plaque and a cash reward of Rs 50,000.
