Rohit Nandan, Vice-Chairman of the Governing Body and Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, will discharge the function of chairman, NSDA, till a new appointment is made. The NSDC board is likely to meet tomorrow to discuss the future road map post the resignation. Sources said the Prime Minister has accepted his resignation.

Meanwhile, top sources in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship said the government is scouting for a replacement. Ramadorai was not available for comments at the time of filing the story. Sources close to him said the 71 year-old, who was appointed by the UPA government, had cited health reasons for putting in his papers.

Last year, NSDC’s Managing Director and CEO Dilip Chenoy and its COO Atul Bhatnagar, both appointees of the previous UPA government, had also resigned. Union Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy had earlier expressed displeasure at the way NSDC was being run in the past and lashed out at its failure to meet the industry’s need for trained manpower.
