Panaji: The Goa Children’s Court Thursday asked singer Remo Fernandes to surrender his passport and furnish a bail bond of Rs 50,000 while granting him bail in a verbal abuse case involving a 17-year-old girl.
Judge Vandana Prabhu Tendulkar directed Remo to report before the investigator for the next 10 days and not leave the state or the country without the court’s permission.
The judge pointed out that while the complaint against the Padma Shri awardee was filed during his absence from the country, he had well represented his unavailability before the investigating officials through his lawyer and also intimated about his travel back to Goa on or before January 8 through his advocate.
As a result of the order, his lawyer said that the singer, who was slated to receive an honour at the ongoing Sabarmati Festival in Ahmedabad, will have to skip the event.
The court has restrained Remo from making any contact with victim.
