A 13-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan inside his house in Ranchi’s Argora area Friday. He was a student of Class 6 at the local DAV Public School. The boy’s father, Raj Kumar Sahu, told the police that his son was upset over his lost holiday homework list.
According to the police, the incident came to light when Om Kumar’s family members found him hanging from a fan in the morning. No suicide note was recovered from the spot.
Officer in-charge of the Argora police station, Ratibhan Singh, said Sahu, a real estate contractor, had given in writing that his son was upset over the lost holiday homework list. “He told us that he assured his son about getting another list. However, the son was found hanging in the morning,” he said.
Additional SP, Hatia, Prashant Anand, said: “We are ascertaining the exact reason. Prima facie, though, it has come to light that the boy lost some notebook or a list related to holiday homework and was upset about it.”
