Targeting the previous UPA regime over the controversial AgustaWestland deal, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar Wednesday said the ongoing probe will focus on those named in the Italian Court judgement even as he suggested the role of an “invisible hand” in preventing a proper investigation earlier.

He, along with Parliamentary Affairs Venkaiah Naidu, rejected the opposition demand for Supreme Court-monitored probe, protesting which Congress staged a walkout.

Replying to a debate in Rajya Sabha on the controversy surrounding the Rs 3600 crore deal for 12 VVIP helicopters, Parrikar said there was “relentless push” by the UPA to go in for the AgustaWestland choppers.

Earlier in the Rajya Sabha, former defence minister and Congress leader AK Antony said that it’s proved beyond doubt there was corruption in chopper deal and he asked the government to act now.

“If you have all evidence, take action but don’t threaten us, don’t blackmail us,” said Antony in Rajya Sabha.

The discussion on AgustaWestland issue began in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday after the House resumed its proceedings at 2 pm. Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar had on Sunday said that he will present the documents related to AugustaWestland in Parliament on Wednesday.
