While holding that the rights of the erstwhile Jaipur royal family on the land on which the gate of hotel Rajmahal Palace stands were “completely disputed”, the state government Sunday allowed the sealed gates to be opened temporarily following CM Vasundhara Raje’s meeting with Rajmata Padmini Devi.
The decision to open the gates as an interim measure was made by a four-member panel formed by Raje on Friday after receiving representations from Padmini Devi and her daughter, BJP MLA Diya Kumari. The opposition Congress termed the formation of the panel an eyewash, claiming the government had bowed to “popular pressure”.
The gates of the hotel were sealed on August 24 during an anti-encroachment drive. ENS
