Rains lash various places in Punjab, Haryana

Chandigarh, the joint capital of the two states, recorded a maximum temperature of 30.7 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal.

Rains on Monday lashed various places in Punjab and Haryana, bringing down the mercury level several notches below normal. Chandigarh, the joint capital of the two states, recorded a maximum temperature of 30.7 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal, the MeT Department said in Chandigarh. The city received 1.9 mm of rainfall.

In Punjab, the maximum temperature at Amritsar settled at 31.2 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal. Ludhiana and Patiala, which received 3 mm each of rains, registered respective maximum temperatures of 30.4 and 29.6 degrees Celsius respectively.

In Haryana, Ambala and Karnal recorded respective maximum temperature of 30.8 and 30.4 degrees Celsius, up to two notches below normal. Ambala and Karnal received rainfall of 1 mm and 5 mm.

Hisar recorded maximum at 27.5 degrees Celsius, nine degrees below normal, and it received 27 mm of rainfall. MeT department in its forecast said rain or thundershower may occur at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana in the next two days.
