AAP MLA Naresh Yadav, arrested in connection with the Malerkotla Quran desecration case, was granted bail by a Sangrur sessions court Saturday. He was released from jail in the evening.
Yadav was arrested on July 24 from his party office in Delhi by a team of Punjab Police. A Malerkotla court had on July 27 rejected Yadav’s bail application following which the party moved the Sangrur sessions court.
Yadav, after coming out of the jail, said, “As I have said before, it is a clear case of political vendetta. The SAD-BJP government is facing competition from none but AAP. Which is why they are panicky and are implicating AAP leaders in false cases. Only six months are left for the Vidhan Sabha polls, and they are going to trouble us more.”
He reiterated: “SAD Minister Bikram Singh Majithia was not arrested even after drug smuggler Jagdish Bhola named him but action was taken against me when an accused sitting inside jail named me. Just because Majithia is the brother of Badal bahu, he was protected.”

Himmat Singh Shergill, incharge of AAP’s legal cell and Yadav’s advocate, said: “Yadav is innocent and will be
acquitted soon in the case. Police had no documentary evidence, so we were sure he will be granted bail by the
court.”
Shergill added: “We are, however, prepared for more in the coming months as Badals can go to any extent. In this
case, our MLA was booked on the statement of the main accused in the desecration case, Vijay Kumar, who is also RSS pracharak and booked on similar charges in Ghaziabad.”
