Punjab Revenue Minister Bikram Majithia intervenes, mayor, deputy make peace

Following the visit of Punjab Revenue Minister Bikram Majithia in Jalandhar Thursday, both BJP Mayor Sunil Jyoti and SAD’s Senior Deputy Mayor Kamaljit Bhatia resolved their differences in a meeting held Thursday late evening, which was attended by senior leaders of BJP and SAD.

Senior Deputy Mayor had made serious allegations of corruption against Mayor, prompting the latter to claim that he will neither join office nor use the official vehicle till Bhatia tendered an apology. Today, however, both hugged each other at a meeting of SAD and BJP.

Earlier in the day, both Mayor and Deputy Mayor, who were present at a function of cycle distribution to girl students attended by Majithia, were not ready to speak to each other.

However, Majthia made it clear that no apology will be tendered by the SAD’s Senior Deputy Mayor and asked them to work for the development of the city. He then left the city.

Later in the evening, senior SAD leaders, including district president G S Channi, and BJP leader, including district president Ramesh Sharma and CPS KD Bhandhari, held a meeting at the Mayor House
