Punjab Chief minister Parkash Singh Badal appealed to all political parties to come together in the wake of allegations that someone had desecrated the Guru Granth Sahib.
Claiming that some forces were hell bent upon destroying the hard-won peace in the state, CM Badal on Sunday asked political parties to join hands to thwart any attempt to push the state back into turbulent times.
Interacting with the media after paying homage to Sawinder Kaur Kahlon, wife of former Punjab Speaker Nirmal Singh Kahlon, the CM said the government was making efforts to ensure peace is not disturbed.
“But the efforts would bear fruit only if all the political parties of the state and general public cooperate,” he said.
Exhorting the people to shun agitations, he assured them the state would bring perpetrators of the crime to book.
