The Pune city police have busted a sex racket operating on F C Road.
They have booked a person, identified as Roy, for allegedly calling a 21-year-old girl from Uzbekistan for flesh trade at an apartment near Ashish Plaza on F C Road.
Police have rescued the girl and are investigating when she came to India and how she reached Pune. Acting on a tip-off to senior police inspector Sushma Chavan of Deccan police station, a decoy contacted Rony who was suspected to be a sex trade agent.
He connected the decoy to the Uzbekistan girl. After the decoy confirmed the sex racket, a police team laid a trap and nabbed the girl on the footpath near Bank of India on F C Road around 4 pm on Tuesday. However, the police could not arrest Rony.
Assistant Police Inspector A M Devkar lodged an offence against Rony in this case at the Deccan police station under Sections of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA). Senior Police Inspector Sushma Chavan is investigating the case.
Police are probing the visa details of the foriegner. The girl reportedly told the police that her passport and visa documents were with operatives in Delhi.
Primary investigation has revealed that she came to India on a tourist visa. Then some Delhi-based sex racketeers sent her to Pune about five days ago.
