BJP corporators in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) took on the civic administration in the general body meeting on Wednesday over its failure to repair roads having potholes due to rains. Municipal commissioner Kunal Kumar assured that the roads would be repaired in the next 48 hours.
Raising the issue in the general body meeting, BJP corporators protested against the ruling NCP for being unable to ensure pothole-free roads in the city. The ruling NCP in the PMC has failed to provide good quality roads to citizens, they said. NCP corporators objected saying that the situation is not as bad as being portrayed. There is hardly any potholes on city roads, they said.
MNS corporators joined their BJP counterparts in the protest. They pointed out that tar roads have seen potholes in monsoon while the concrete roads fared better. The municipal commissioner informed that the civic administration has launched a new service of road ambulances with four vehicles round the clock to repair the roads. “All roads in the city would be repaired in the next 48 hours,,” he said.
